Treenailed Boat

The treenailed boat is a boat model used in Northen Europe, usually associated with Vikings but should perhaps be ascribed Pomeranian groups. The shape and construction coincides with the sewn boats, but instead of sewing needle and thread, it is assembled with iron nails (except in stem and stern). As with sewn boats, it is sometimes aesthetically adorned with heads (usually elk heads) on the and stern post, thus might indicate shamanism.
