Trassenheide

Trassenheide is a seaside resort on the island Usedom. Trassenheide has approximately 1,000 inhabitants and lives predominantly from the tourism. The place was mentioned for the first time documentary 1786, first under the designation "mutton stable"; because one had established a large sheep stable at that time, in order to protect herds of sheep against a sudden flooding by the Baltic Sea. In 1840 there were already 138 inhabitants. 1908 received the colony on request to the names "Trassenheide". At this time also the tourism began. In 1928 Trassenheide was made to an independent municipality. In August 1943 the place was strongly destroyed with a bomb attack, which applied for the neighbouring army research station in Peenemuende.
