A.K.A. Transient Random
Originally released in August 1993. The first major release to appear under the label Duophonic Ultra High Frequency Disks. Very experimental at the time (Golden Ball is literally a misrecorded tune until 3:23), Transient Random - Noise Bursts with Announcements contains a huge amount of Krautrock tracks when compared to any other releases of the Groop. The album also features one of the longest songs ever recorded by the band: Jenny Ondioline (a little more than 18 minutes long). Limited to 1500 copies on double gold vinyl; the majority of which were returned and destroyed due to the poor pressing quality. Also available on double black vinyl, CD and cassette. The first proper Stereolab release on Elektra Records in the US, issued on CD and cassette. Reissued subsequently in Japan on CD only, with the bonus track French Disko. The original version of this LP had a George Harrison sample on Pack Yr Romantic Mind for which the band were denied clearance. They had to re-record the track without the sample but Elektra Records had already manufactured some promo cassettes with the sample.
