Toronto, Australia

Toronto is a busy suburb on the western shore of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia. Toronto was the site of an Aboriginal mission, established in 1829. It was named after Toronto, Canada in honour of Edward Hanlan, a world-champion sculler who visited Australia from Canada in 1884. Up until the mid 1980s it had a railway station which terminated the branch line from Fassifern. It now has a bus aptly named "The Train".
