Tornado Plasma HypothesisThe tornado plasma hypothesis is a hypothesis that plasma effects are associated with tornadoes. Edward Lewis has reported radio emissions that suggest rapid plasma glow discharges (silent "tornado lightning" bursts, similar to the plasma filament inside a fluorescent light bulb) on the order of 20 Hz. Lewis has associated tornadoes with plasmoids and point discharges, as well as a host of other plasma effects. Nocturnal tornadoes offer opportunity to observe this glow discharge.http://www.science-frontiers.com/sf105/sf105p11.htm However most other researchers dismiss reports of the plasma effect, and these hypotheses remain outside the mainstream. Plasma is possibly a factor in the creation of ball lightning. External links
