Tolworth Tolworth is a mostly residential suburb of London, in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. It is comprised mainly of low-density 1930s semi-detached houses. Tolworth is the home of the former pirate radio station, Radio Jackie http://www.radiojackie.com/, now based in Tolworth Broadway. It also has its own community arts centre: The CornerHOUSE. http://www.thecornerhouse.org/ The area is dominated by the Tolworth Tower, an office block designed by the late Richard Seifert and opened in 1964. The tower is 80.8 m high with 22 floors. The Marks and Spencer supermarket chain has a shop on the ground floor and the lower parts have recently opened as a Travelodge hotel. The building has been given the honour of appearing in the Taschen book of Boring Postcards. It is situated by the Tolworth roundabout on the busy A3 London-to-Portsmouth road. This roundabout is known as the Toby Jug Roundabout after the pub steeped in history which stood on the south east corner for many years before closure and demolition following Tesco PLC's acquisition of a large surrounding site.
