Tlbec

Telebec is a telephone company located in the province of Quebec in Canada. It serves various sectors like the James Bay territory area, the Abitibi-Tmiscamingue area, parts of the Outaouais region, and central Quebec. The name Tlbec originated with the first telephone company to operate a municipal system in the town of Bcancour, "Tlphone Bcancour", which was founded in 1965 by a group of businessmen. Three years later, Tlbec merged with seven other phone companies: Tlphone Princeville lte, Tlcommunication Richelieu lte, Tlphone de Contrecoeur lte, Compagnie de Tlphone La Tuque lte, Tlcommunications de l'Est lte, Compagnie de Tlphone Arthabaska lte, and Compagnie de Tlphone Pontiac lte. Other telephones companies were merged with Telebec and some of them were sold to Telebec over the years. With the merger of Quebec Tel into TELUS, Telebec became one of the rare surviving "provincial" phone companies in private hands, the others being Canada-wide giants like Bell Canada.
