Tic Tacs

Tic Tacs are a breath mint manufactured by Ferrero, an Italian confectioner. It was developed in 1969, and has continued to keep pace with the times, coming out with several variations of the original Tic Tacs. During the 1970s, Tic Tacs were commonly sold on Tic Tac Trees which were located on store countertops. Also during the 1970s, the Double Whack Pack was introduced, featuring a regular Tic Tac container with two flavors inside. Available combinations were Tangerine and Lime, and Berry and Cherry. Other innovations included: Holiday Gift Packs for Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day, Silvers - Individually wrapped mints designed for candy bowls, and 30% Bigger Mints - featuring Tic Tacs that are 30% bigger. Besides the original Freshmints flavor, several new flavors were added over time. Cinnamon, Orange, and Spearmint were introduced as flavors in the 1970s, Wintergreen in the 1980s, and Lime in the 2000s. In 2005 a limited edition flavor of lemon was introduced.

Since 1980, its tagline has been "The 1½ Calorie Breath Mint®." It currently occupies the #1 position in the US breath mint category.
