Thrombus

A thrombus is the final product of blood coagulation, through the aggregation of platelets and the activation of the humoral coagulation system. Thrombus is physiologic in cases of injury, but pathologic in case of thrombosis. Synonym: Blood clot. See also: thrombolytic drug
