Thomas Rhymer

Thomas Rhymer (16411713) was an English playwright and critic who introduced the English to the principles of French Neoclassical Drama. Rhymer is best known for his essay A Short View of Tragedy (1692) which John Dennis famously responded to in The Impartial Critick.
