engraver
. He worked for the
Royal Mint
in
London
and was one of the founder members of the
Royal Academy
in
1768
. Born in Italy, Pingo settled in London in the 1740s. His subjects included
Charles Edward Stuart
(
Bonny Prince Charlie
) and
George III
. He was appointed Assistant Engraver at the Mint in
1771
. His
English
-born sons
Lewis Pingo
(
1743
-
1840
) and
John Pingo
