Thomas George Cowling
Thomas George Cowling

) was a British
astronomer
. He did early work on stellar structure and collaborated with
Ludwig Biermann
. He also studied
magnetic fields
within stars. He won the
Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society
in
1956
and the
Bruce Medal
in
1985
. He was also awarded the
Hughes Medal
two days before his death.
