Thomas F. Goreau

Thomas F. Goreau (* in Germany, died 1970 in Jamaica) was an American marine biologist who searched about the coral reefs of Jamaica. He flew from Nazi Germany in the 1930's into the USA, studied at the Clark University and worked on ecology in the Yale University. In 1951 he went to Jamaica, and in 1956 he founded a long-term research project about the coral reefs of Jamaica. In 1969 or 1970 he opened the marine laboratory of Discovery Bay, Jamaica. His widow Nora I. Goreau and his son Thomas J. Goreau (Tom Goreau) also work about coral reefs.
