Theodore SorensonTheodore Sorenson (b. 1928) is a lawyer and writer. During the Kennedy Administration Sorenson was speechwriter, special counsel and advisor for United States president John Kennedy. Sorenson was responsible for writing some of Kennedy's most famous speeches. He also had a strong role in ghostwriting Kennedy's Pulitzer Prize winning biography Profiles in Courage. In 1965 Sorenson published a biography of President Kennedy. A fascinating insight into the Kennedy White House it was received with outrage in some circles for releasing sensitive material. In 1977 Jimmy Carter nominated Sorenson director of the Central Intelligence Agency but the nomination was rejected before even being submitted to the Senate. Sorenson was not believe to hold the required experience and his Kennedy biography was held up as an example of his untrustworthiness.
