Thea AstleyThea Astley (25 August 1925 - 17 August 2004) was an Australian novelist. Born in Brisbane, Astley studied arts at the University of Queensland before becoming a teacher. After marrying, she moved to Sydney. In later life she tutored at Macquarie University. Her novels won several Miles Franklin Awards and in 1989 she won the Patrick White Award.
