The Seahorses

The Seahorses are an British traditional rock band, best known as the post-Stone Roses project of guitarist John Squire. Formed in 1996, the Seahorses leaned more towards guitar-driven music than the dancehall rock of Stone Roses, the Seahorses (an anagram of he hates roses) were formed with vocalist Chris Helme, bassist Stuart Fletcher, and drummer Andy Watts. Their first album, Do it Yourself was produced by Tony Visconti, for Geffen Records in June 1997 to varied reviews, and the band toured with Oasis on their 1997 world tour. During the production of their second album, Watts left the group, and the group disbanded in 1999 due to disagreements between Squire and Helme. The second album is still unreleased. Since this time, Helms continues recording as a solo artist, although Squire has not been active in the industry since.
