The Mill On The Floss

The Mill on the Floss is a novel by George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans), first published in three volumes in 1860. Tom and Maggie Tulliver are a brother and sister who live in a mill beside the river Floss. Maggie is a tomboy, and gets into romantic difficulties which lead to her disgrace. In the end, Tom and Maggie are both drowned in the river during a storm.
