The Eulenspiegel Society (TES) claims to be the oldest and largest BDSM education and support group in the USA. It is based in New York. TES is a not-for-profit organization. It states that it "promotes sexual liberation for all adults. Especially for people who enjoy consensual S/M." TES was originally an informal association set up in the winter of 1971. They regard sexual liberation as essential for a society to be truly free, and they are partcularly concerned about the freedom of sexual minorities, including that of the BDSM community. TES functions include classes, workshops, social events, public outreach and fundraising for related causes. There are a large number of SIGs (special interest groups) for people interested in Bondage, relationship issues, etc., plus a group for younger members 18-35 years old called TES-TNG (the next generation) The group sponsors an annual convention called TESfest, usually in May at a hotel in New York City. The event includes classes, workshops and parties and a "flea market" area where fetish goods are sold. Usually over 1,000 people attend.
