The Cure For Insomnia

The Cure for Insomnia is the world's longest film, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, as of its release in 1987. Running between 80-90 hours in length, the film follows no plot. Instead, it consists of L.D. Groban reading his poetry over the course of four days inter-spliced with occasional clips from heavy metal and X-rated videos. It was first played in its entirety at The School Of The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois from January 31 to February 3, 1987 in one continuous showing. It is not clear whether or not the movie has been released to the public since then. Considering that a normal DVD can only hold 4 hours, The Cure for Insomnia would end up being around 22 discs. The film is entirely shot on video. Its original purpose was only to reprogram the brains of insomnia sufferers. Because of these two facts it is still debated whether or not The Cure for Insomnia can even be considered in the same category as other candidates for longest film.
