The City Of New York Vs. Homer SimpsonThe Simpsons episode 'City of New York vs. Homer Simpson' was made several years before the tragedy of 9/11. Homer has lent his car to Barney Gumble only to find that for some unexplained reason his car wound up in New York City in the World Trade Centre Plaza. Homer recalls his first trip to New York years before, in which he becomes an unwitting dupe for a pickpocket. The rest of the Simpson clan goes off sightseeing while Homer searches for his car. Once at the WTC plaza he finds his car has been locked up by the police and he even attempts to drive away with the lock still attached to the car. In another scenee he needs to use the washroom and he runs up the south tower only to find that the washroom is in the North Tower. He makes it up the North Tower only to find it out of order. In another scene, Marge and the kids go for a ride in a horse drawn carriage or a caleche. By the time Homer gets there, his car is a total wreck. The caleche driver, mistaking Homer for a madman cracks his whip at the horse and yells; 'Go Secretariat', a reference to the famous race horse.
