The Cingalee

The Cingalee, or Sunny Ceylon Musical, is a highly successful musical play by James T. Tanner, with music by Lionel Monckton and lyrics by Adrian Ross and Percy Greenbank, with additional material by Paul Rubens, opened on March 5 1904 and ran until March 11 1905 for a total of 365 (another source giving 391) performances. The first night cast included Hayden Coffin, Rutland Barrington, Fred Kaye, Willie Warde, Huntley Wright, Sybil Arundale Gracie Leigh, Carrie Moore, Isabel Jay and Topsy Sinden. Choreography was by Willie Warde, scenery was by Hawes Craven, and costumes were by Percy Anderson. In the USA: Original Daly's Theatre, NY, USA Opening: Oct 24, 1904 Closing: circa.
