The Catholics

The Catholics is a Sydney jazz band led by bassist Lloyd Swanton. The group's aim is to play Caribbean, African and Latin American dance rhythms in a jazz style, with slide guitar and percussion to the fore. The lineup is variable, having at various times included Dave Brewer (guitar), Sandy Evans (saxophones, flute), James Greening (trombone, pocket trumpet), Fabian Hevia, Sammila Sithole (percussion), Michel Rose (pedal steel guitar, Dobro, mandolin), Bruce Reid (National steel, lap steel guitar), Hamish Stuart, Toby Hall, Tony Buck (drums), Chris Abrahams (Hammond organ), Jonathan Pease (guitar) and Waldo Fabian (bass guitar, percussion).
