The 69 Eyes is a modern goth rock band from Finland fromed in the early 1990's. It's main symbol is the ankh and its members include; Timo-Timo and Bazie on guitar, Archzie on bass, Jussi69 on drums, and the lead vocalist Jyrki. The singer Ville Valo of the band HIM, often does back up vocals for The 69 Eyes, and has helped to promote the band.

Brief History

The 69 eyes originally had a very loud sound, somewhere between punk and horror flavored glam rock. They claimed to be influenced by bands such as Iggy and the Stooges and The Dead Boys. As time progressed though, their tone began to shift. By th'e time of their first international release in 1999, 'Wasting the Dawn The 69 Eye's had created their own unique sound, known as "Goth'n'roll," by fusing Gothic melancholly and high-energy rock'n'roll into their works. In Spring of 2000, The 69 Eyes released the single Gothic Girl which greatly changed the fortunes of the still obscure band. After months on the single's Top 10 and the Finnish national radio's playlists, this single brought the band their first gold record. After the success Wasting the Dawn and Gothic Girl, The 69 Eyes released the CD Blessed Be in September of 2000. The album rose straight to the number four spot on the Finnish Album Charts and its singles continued to jump straight into the top 10 in Finland earning them another gold record, and began to climb the charts in Germany as well. Paris Kills was released to follow up the two gold albums and surpassed them both. This recording is often considered the album of The 69 Eyes, as Violater was to Depeche Mode. With added keyboards the band's sound was a bit softer and the CD went gold in a month and has recently gone platinum. It also secured them fans all across Europe. The Eye's newest release, Devils shot straight to number one on Finnish charts, as did it's first singles, "Devils" a cover of "Lost Boys" and is doing well throughout Europe.
