TED WONG

by Albert Grajales Sifu (teacher) Ted Wong (Kam Ming) was born in Hong Kong, on November 5, 1937. In 1953 Sifu Wong moved to the United States of America. Sifu Wongs first encounter with Sijo Bruce Lee was in 1967, in Los Angeles, California were Sijo Bruce Lee was giving a seminar about his martial art. Sifu Wong, whom at the time had no martial arts training, was interested in western boxing and some martial arts. Wong was so impressed by Bruce Lee, that decided to study martial arts at Sijo Bruce Lees Kwoon (school) Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute in Los Angeles, California. Shortly after beginning his martial arts studies Sijo Bruce Lee saw something special in Ted Wong. Sijo Bruce Lee invited Sifu Ted Wong to his house, and took him as his private student. Sifu Ted Wong worked very hard under the tutelage of Sijo Bruce Lee, and not only was he a dedicated student, but he became Sijo Bruce Lees sparring partner. Sifu Wong watched Sijo Bruce Lee train and teach the best martial artists of their time, including the undisputed world heavy weight full contact Karate Champion Joe Lewis. Ted Wong was considered in the martial arts community as Bruce Lees protg. Sifu Dan Inosanto and Sifu Ted Wong are the only ones certified by Bruce Lee in the art of Jeet Kune Do. Sijo Lee, certified the rest of his students in Jun Fan Gung Fu. Sifu Ted Wong is an incredibly humble and extraordinary human being with high moral values. He is an excellent teacher and martial artist. Sifu Wong is known today as on of the most knowledgeable men in the world when it comes to Bruce Lees Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do. Sifu Ted Wong gives seminars and he continues to teach privately to a highly select group of people. Currently he is teaching Bruce Lees daughter Shannon Lee Keaser. Sifu Wong is a board member of the Bruce Lee Foundation.
