ted shackelford

American actor, best known for his role as Garrison Arthur "Gary" Ewing on the TV series Knots Landing from 1979 to 1993. The character of Gary Ewing was started on Dallas in 1978, but played by David Ackroyd. When Ackroyd was unavailable for the character's second appearance in "Return Engagements" (Airdate 12/20/1979) and the Knots Landing series in 1979, Shackelford took the role. In addition to "Knots", Shackelford appeared as Gary Ewing several times on Dallas in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, and in the 1991 series finale. Raised in Tulsa where his father was stationed with the military. Attended the University of Denver. He remains good friends with Knots Landing co-star Joan Van Ark, who he met on the set of Wonder Woman in 1978. Shackelford, Ted
