Geography Taylor is located at 31°10'6" North, 85°28'5" West (31.168331, -85.468016). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 18.6 km² (7.2 mi²). 18.4 km² (7.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.11% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,898 people, 699 households, and 552 families residing in the town. The population density is 103.2/km² (267.4/mi²). There are 751 housing units at an average density of 40.8/km² (105.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.05% White, 3.79% Black or African American, 0.79% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.74% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 1.11% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 699 households out of which 47.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.9% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.0% are non-families. 18.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.72 and the average family size is 3.09. In the town the population is spread out with 31.7% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 35.6% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.0 males. The median income for a household in the town is $40,664, and the median income for a family is $44,181. Males have a median income of $32,401 versus $22,321 for females.
