Tavurvur

Tavurvur is a stratovolcano in Papua New Guinea. It is a sub-vent of the Rabaul caldera and lies on the eastern rim of the larger feature. It is the most active feature of the Rabaul caldera, and is active as of 2004. In 1994, in conjunction with another vent, Vulcan, the eruptions of Tavurvur forced the abandonment of the city of Rabaul and the relocation of the local administrative centres.
