Tan Cheng Lock

The late Tun Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock (1883-1960) was a the founder and the first president of the MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association), who fought for the rights of the Malaysian Chinese. Prior to the independence of Malaya, he was also a member of the Straits Settlement Legistative Council. His son, Tan Siew Sin, the former Finance Minister of Malaysia, took over as the president of MCA after his death.
