Tamma

Tamma is a West African (Wolof) term for a talking drum. It is an hour-glass shaped drum with two heads (goat or fish skin) tuned by straps that connect the heads with each other. The drum is held under the upper arm and played with a curved stick and fingers. The tuning of the drum is regulated by pressing down or releasing the upper arm.
