T. Herman ZweibelT. Herman Zweibel (born 1868) is a fictional character, the long term editor of The Onion, whose adventures were recounted in a series of often bizarre editorials, ending in December 2000. The extremely elderly Zweibel had supposedly been writing for the newspaper since the Spanish-American War and had been its editor since 1901, and still felt that Spain was a dangerous threat to the United States. Hallmarks of Zweibel's editorials included his tendency to hyphenate words for no apparent reason (a throwback to an era where written English was not as modernised as it is today); his hatred of humanity; his uneasy relationship with his manservant Standish; and his ongoing war with his nemesis, "that hideous mechanical ro-bot gentle-man, Mr. Tin." His last name is very similar to the German word for onion, 'Zwiebel'. Zweibel, T. Herman Zwiebel, T. Herman Zweibel, T. Herman
