Swift Trail Junction is a census-designated place located in Graham County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,195.

Geography

Swift Trail Junction is located at 32°44'5" North, 109°42'54" West (32.734604, -109.714970). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.3 km² (4.7 mi²). 12.2 km² (4.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.42% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,195 people, 499 households, and 349 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 179.6/km² (465.2/mi²). There are 561 housing units at an average density of 45.9/km² (118.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 77.68% White, 5.79% Black or African American, 6.06% Native American, 2.19% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 7.24% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 28.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 499 households out of which 33.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.9% are non-families. 24.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 3.07. In the CDP the population is spread out with 16.1% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 43.6% from 25 to 44, 20.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 236.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 285.4 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $28,393, and the median income for a family is $29,762. Males have a median income of $14,901 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $11,731. 13.8% of the population and 10.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.4% of those under the age of 18 and 22.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
