Swiebodzice
Świebodzice

) is a town in south-western
Poland
with 24,700 inhabitants (
as of 1994
). Situated in the
Lower Silesian Voivodship
(since
1999
), previously in
Walbrzych Voivodship
(
1975
–
1998
). The city is situated next to "Książ Castle" which during the
World War II
, together with the underground cave complex, was expanded to create
Adolf Hitler
's private quarters there. Old fortifications from around
1279
, the year the city was founded, still remain.
