Supreme Court Of UkraineThe Supreme Court of Ukraine (in Ukrainian, Верховний Суд України) is the highest judicial body in the system of courts of general jurisdiction in Ukraine. The Court derives its authority from the Constitution of Ukraine, but much of its structure is outlined in legislation. Structure The Court consists of several judicial chambers (criminal, civil, and arbitration cases). The chamber for administrative cases is in project. A separate panel considers military cases. Appointments to the Court are made by the parliament and have no fixed time limit, nor is there a fixed number of appointments allowed. The Chairman of the Supreme Court is elected to office and dismissed from office by the Plenary Assembly of the Court by secret ballot. History The Court was originally established on March 11, 1923.
