Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is a U.S. National Monument in the north-central part of the U.S. state of Arizona, intended to protect Sunset Crater Volcano. It is maintained by the National Park Service in close conjunction with nearby Wupatki National Monument. The monument was established in the 1930s as a result of a public outcry over a film crew's plan to create a landslide at the site for use in a movie. The plan was never put into action.
