Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 116.8 km² (45.1 mi²). 116.7 km² (45.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.11% water. Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,368 people, 864 households, and 691 families residing in the township. The population density is 20.3/km² (52.6/mi²). There are 930 housing units at an average density of 8.0/km² (20.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.11% White, 0.21% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.04% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. 0.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 864 households out of which 33.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.3% are married couples living together, 5.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% are non-families. 17.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.09. In the township the population is spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
