Subotica

Subotica (Суботица, Hungarian: Szabadka, German: Mariatheresiopel) is a city in northern Serbia and Montenegro, in the autonomous region of Vojvodina of the Republic of Serbia. It is located at 46.07° North, 19.68° East, about 10 km from the border with Hungary. It is the second largest city of the region next to Novi Sad, with a population of 100,386. Its name stems from word "Saturday" in Serbian language. Surroundings of Subotica are mainly farmland but the city itself is an important Serbian industrial and transportation centre.
