Strontian

Strontian is a village in Ardgour, in the Scottish Highlands. The mineral strontianite was discovered here, from which the element strontium was first isolated. The village name, Srn an t-Stheinn in Gaelic, translates as the promontary of the stheann, a stheann being a low, round hill inhabited by the mythological Sth.
