Streetlight Manifesto

Streetlight Manifesto is a third wave ska band from New Jersey. The band released its first album, Everything Goes Numb, on August 26, 2003, released on Victory Records. The band also headlined their first ever show at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Streetlight Manifesto's members have often been members of other New Jersey ska bands, most notably Catch 22's Tomas Kalnoky, Jamie Egan, Mike Soprano, and Josh Ansley, as well as One Cool Guy's Chris Paszik. Other notable members of Streetlight Manifesto include Jeff "The Diner on Route Nine" Smith, in charge of merchendise sales, Chris Knowles, who works in the sound booth, and Rob Thatcher simply listed as Streetlight Manifesto's "go-to guy." The original ensemble that recorded Everything Goes Numb has undergone several line-up changes since the album's release. The original drummer, Paul Lowndes, had not intend to perform live, so Chris Thatcher was to fill in for touring. On the album, Egan played both trumpet and trombone, so Soprano came in to play trombone alongside Egan's trumpet. The line-up stayed consistent until September 2004 when Ansley left to pursue an acting career. Although a September 19, 2004 show was listed to be his last, he was not at the show. Paszik played at the show in his place. The show, held at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, is notable for being the first live performance of "Dear Sergio" by Kalnoky, who wrote the song while with Catch 22 some years before. The next departure was Egan, who left on January 22, 2005, right before Streetlight Manifesto began the Ska is Dead 2 tour, headlining alongside MU330 and the Voodoo Glow Skulls. Egan left to spend more time with his family and the students of East Brunswick High School in East Brunswick, New Jersey, to whom Egan taught music. Delano Bonner came in to play trumpet starting January 25, 2005, performing at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. The most recent departure is that of Ross, who left to pursue a business career and was hastened by family crisis. There has not, as of yet, been an announced replacement for Ross. Members of Streetlight Manifesto also, collaborated with a number of other musicians to record the Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution EP, A Call to Arms. Included on the five track, independently released album is "Here's to Life", a song which Streetlight Manifesto reworked and in cluded on Everything Goes Numb, and a new version of "Dear Sergio:", which includes a new verse. Both bands are members of The RISC Group, a collaboration of artists to self produce and retain rights to their music. Streetlight Manifesto has announced that it will begin recording in the second half of 2005, after returning from their first tour of Europe and an additional, short tour of the northeast United States and Canada.
