Strangers With Candy

Strangers with Candy was a American sitcom that aired thirty episodes (in three series runs of ten episodes each) on Comedy Central in 1999 and 2000. The show was a parody of the after school special phenomena of the 1970s and 1980s. The series' main character, Jerri Blank (played by Amy Sedaris), was a runaway returning to high school as a freshman at the age of 46. Other prominent characters included Jerri's art teacher, Geoffrey Jellineck (played by Paul Dinello), Jerri's history teacher, Chuck Noblet (played by Stephen Colbert), and the principal of Flatpoint High, Onyx Blackman (Greg Hollimon). The creators and many stars of the series were alumni of Chicago's Second City comedy troupe. According to the show's post-first season animated introduction, after dropping out of high school as a teenager, Jerri ran away from home, and became "a boozer, a user, and a loser" including a prostitute, stripper, and criminal. The animated introduction also suggested that she went to prison because, in her words, "I stole the TV!" Other characters:
