Straight Ally

Straight ally is a term used in organizing for gay straight equality to refer to straight people who are active, despite a supposedly common view that it has nothing to do with them and provides no short or long term benefits. The term seems to have come in to use so as to allow organizations to include and serve straight people without abandoning their mission statements. Some organizations, such as gay straight alliances often consist of predominately of straight allies, while some groups exclude straight people altogether.
