business school
and private
university
in
Stockholm
,
Sweden
. It was founded in
1909
to improve business education in Sweden. Controlled by a private trust, it also receives government support. The school operates a master of science program in business and economics as well as
MBA
and
Ph.D.
programs. Approximately half its academic research is in
business administration
and the other half in
economics
,
statistics
and
finance
. The most well known scholars of the institution are arguably the economists
Eli Heckscher
and
Bertil Ohlin
, who developed the so called
Heckscher-Ohlin theory
of international trade. Ohlin later received the
Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel
in
1977
. Heckscher is also known as the founder of
economic history
as an academic discipline in Sweden.
