Stephen Dodgson

Stephen Dodgson (born March 17, 1924) is a British composer.

Biography

From 1947 to 1949, Dodgson studied at the Royal College of Music, where he later taught composition. In 1950, he visited Italy on a travelling scholarship, after which he taught in various schools and colleges for a number of years. From 1957 he has broadcast regularly on BBC Radio. Dodgson's music could not be called avant-garde, but it is certainly distinctive, and often highly dissonant, although it is not without a sense of fun. He has written music covering a number of genres, but he is perhaps best known for his guitar music. In addition to a large number of solo works, this includes ensemble pieces and two concertos. Guitarists who are closely identified with his works include John Williams and the Eden-Stell Duo. Dodgson Dodgson, Stephen Dodgson, Stephen Dodgson, Stephen
