Stephen Covell

Stephen Covell (Born August 28, 1982) is a singer/songwriter who was born in Pacific Grove, California to Steve and Jan Covell. As a child he was taught piano learned to play the trumpet but did not discover his real talent for music until he was 18 when he taught himself to play guitar. He then sought out private guitar and vocal instruction, while carving out a melting-pot style by listing to and emulating musicians such as Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, and Jack Johnson. Touted by his teachers as "gifted," he was never the less undisciplined and produced only average grades. Savy enough to understand the difficulties faced by professional musicians and because of a desire to gain a better perspective of the craft of songwriting he followed his parents advice and continued his education after graduating high school in June 2001. After attending three community colleges in California and taking a year long break to work, he moved to Tucson, Arizona in August of 2004 to sing in the Symphonic Choir at the University of Arizona and complete his bachelors degree in creative writing. To date he has writen and recorded over fourty original pieces which are distributed via the internet on music service sites such as Purevolume.com, myspace.com, and rocketradio.com.
