Geography Steamboat is located at 35°44'49" North, 109°51'18" West (35.747080, -109.855083). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.1 km² (2.4 mi²). 6.1 km² (2.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 233 people, 56 households, and 50 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 38.1/km² (98.8/mi²). There are 92 housing units at an average density of 15.1/km² (39.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 0.00% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 97.42% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 2.15% from two or more races. 2.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 56 households out of which 55.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% are married couples living together, 32.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.7% are non-families. 10.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.16 and the average family size is 4.50. In the CDP the population is spread out with 39.9% under the age of 18, 13.3% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 16.7% from 45 to 64, and 2.6% who are 65 years of age or older.
