Starchaser

Starchaser industries is a company based in Hyde, Cheshire, UK. Team Starchaser is one of the teams who were competing for the ANSARI X PRIZE until Burt Rutan of Scaled Composites became the winner. The founder of Starchaser is Steve Bennett, a former toothpaste technician and part time lecturer at Salford University. In 2001, Starchaser launched a rocket from the UK mainland called NOVA from Morecambe Bay. The new vehicle that is being worked on is called Thunderstar, which should be able to complete the original X-Prize challenge, although no prize will be offered for it. The company is noted for it's high turnover of staff, usually untrained former volunteers, and there are questions being asked about certain financial irregularities. Mr Bennett is noted for his legal battles over the years. He has personally sued over a dozen space and rocketry enthusiasts over the past 10 years, as well as noted journalists. He also had an unsuccessful lawsuit against the BBC.
