Stanley Whitewater Canoeing Course

The Stanley whitewater canoeing course at Stanley Wier on the River Tay is one of the most popular sites for recreational and competitive canoeing in Scotland. Situated near the village of Stanley, Perthshire the course is about 10 miles below the popular Grandtully rapids and about 4 miles from Perth. Above the access point is Campsie Linn, the full flow of the River Tay squeezed into a 5 metre wide channel causes a potentially dangerous rapid with whirlpools and other fun for canoeists. The main rapids on the course are Stanley Weir, Hell Hole Corner and Thistlebrig. Local gillie Mike Smith has restricted access for paddlers by blocking off the car park.
