Belgian
cyclist. In
1955
he won the "Ardennes double" by winning the
Flche Wallone
and the
Lige - Bastogne - Lige
in the same year. At this time the races were run on successive days as "Le Weekend Ardennais". He was runner-up in the
Tour de France
in
1950
and
1952
, and the fastest sprinter in that race in 1955 and 1956. He won the
World Cycling Championship
in 1955. Stan Ockers died after collapsing during a race in
Antwerp
in
1956
