St. Thomas University (Florida)

St. Thomas University is a Catholic institution of higher education located in Miami, Florida. The institution began as Biscayne College in 1961, when Augustinian Friars operating Cuba's Universidad de Santo Tomas de Villanueva were expelled by the regime of Fidel Castro. The University now occupies a 140-acre campus in northwest Miami. The University offers degrees in a number of different majors, including 12 graduate degrees, and has a College of Law, established in 1984, which is currently headed by former Florida Attorney General, Bob Butterworth. The institution has over 15,000 alumni, including 1,800 graduates of its law school.
