St. Helena is a village located in Cedar County, Nebraska. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 86.

Geography

St. Helena is located at 42°48'44" North, 97°15'2" West (42.812132, -97.250497). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 86 people, 37 households, and 26 families residing in the village. The population density is 79.1/km² (204.5/mi²). There are 38 housing units at an average density of 34.9/km² (90.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 37 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.9% are married couples living together, 2.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.88. In the village the population is spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 2.3% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 31.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.0 males. The median income for a household in the village is $41,875, and the median income for a family is $46,563. Males have a median income of $26,667 versus $16,806 for females.
