St. George Dragons

left Saint George Dragons was a team in the National Rugby League competition in Australia. Entering the New South Wales Rugby League in 1921, the club won 15 premierships, including 11 in succession between 1956 and 1966, a record for national sporting competitions at the time. The breakaway of the Cronulla-Sutherland club in 1967 started a drought-like dearth of premierships for the Dragons. The once proud club was forced into a merger with the Illawarra Steelers in 1998, forming the St. George-Illawarra Dragons.
